I don't typically share personal posts here, but I made my own lip balm tonight and had to share it! This would make an awesome wedding favour or bridesmaid gift and can be customized with your own flavours and colours! I found some recipes online that just mix petroleum jelly with some sort of coloured powder, but petroleum jelly has been linked to some nasty stuff and is only good at locking moisture in, not actually moisturizing the skin. This mixture is not only yummy and pretty, but also leaves skin super soft and moisturized. If you leave the colour out this can also be used as a hand balm! What you'll need:-6-8 Small Containers (I upcycled last year's David's tea advent calendar containers, but you can find containers at Michael's or even use empty containers you find around the house like the Altoids container I found in my purse!)-1/3 Cup of grated Beeswax-2/3 Cup Organic coconut oil-6-7 drops of essential oil (spearmint, tea tree, grapefruit etc. or a mixture if you want)-6 Vitamin E capsules-Eyeshadow/Edible glitter (Optional!)-Microwaveable dish
Step 1.Put essential oils in a microwaveable dish, poke holes & drain vitamin E capsules, then add grated beeswax and coconut oil and stir with a spoon. If you'd like to colour your balm add the eyeshadow or edible glitter to coconut oil in a separate dish, stir, and add to the rest of your mixture once somewhat blended.
Step 2.Microwave mixture in 30 second increments, stirring with a spoon, until completely clear and all beeswax and coconut clumps are melted. Could take 3/4 minutes in total.
Step 3.Pour in to a measuring cup or spouted dish and transfer in to lip balm containers.
Step 4.Cool and let sit overnight.
Much Love,Lindsay
