Happy Pride everyone!
The LGBTQ+ community has a lot to celebrate this month, but our society still has a long way to come to achieve equality, and the wedding industry is no different. In an effort to do my part to work towards the world I'd like to one day live in, I've included some new phrases on my About Me page that clarifies that I'm an inclusive person and my openness to photographing LGBTQ+ couples. At least once a month I get an inquiry from a same-sex couple wondering if I'm willing to photograph their wedding. It always stings a bit that they even need to ask, but sadly they do because jerks exist in the world - and I haven't done my part until now to make it extremely clear that I do, in fact, offer photography to everyone (just no jerks). In the wedding industry we always say "you book what you show" - and to be fair, what I show is all straight couples, because so far that's really all I've shot. So with full transparency, I'm offering a free photo session to an LGBTQ+ couple or family who is willing to let me use their photos on my blog & social media. All you have to do is comment on this post with a <3 emoji to be entered - it's that simple. At the end of the month, I'll randomly select a couple or family and we'll go take some great photos together! My goal isn't to get more business or more clients from this, it's simply to create the kind of business and society I'd like to have - one that's visibly inclusive of everyone.Much Love,LCp.s. thanks to @lelia_milaya for the photo
