Peace, Love and Weddings!
It's crazy what can happen in a year. This year I've continued to travel the world with my best friend, for work and pleasure... although to be honest, I think I've lost the differentiating features of those two things.I shot over 50 weddings, on my own and along side my mentor and love Taylor Jackson. It's absolutely insane to know that we've witnessed the best day of hundreds of couples lives, and we've gotten to do it together. We started and finished filming a documentary on the amazing, and sometimes shocking, community we live in. (In case you've missed it: www.startupcommunityfilm.com). We were also blessed by the same amazing community with an equally shocking amount of money to fund this project, and the support continues to flow… we can't wait to release it in the new year!I handed down my duties as Miss Oktoberfest, and had the absolute honour of passing the crown on to one of my close friends.I became the Director of the Women's Leadership Exchange and have learned so much from the awesome ladies in our community. My brother graduated from the University of Waterloo, moved to Toronto and landed an incredible job managing his own Public Outreach office.. I'm super proud of him.Taylor and I moved in together - that was crazy.I taught Taylor how to clean a litter box… also crazy. My Mom was diagnosed with cancer, and then un-diagnosed… thanking God every day. I still can't write that without crying. As I look forward to 2014 I am so grateful for the challenges I experienced in 2013. There were points in the year that I felt like the challenges I was facing were too much, that there was no possible way I could find a silver lining. It's amazing the perspective all these challenges give us; in overcoming these obstacles we know we can take bigger risks and leaps in our personal and professional lives.Speaking of leaps, I have over 25 weddings booked for 2014… it's one of the craziest feelings going in to a new year. This is the first year that wedding photography will be my full-time job, and although it's scary I also know how rewarding this year will be. Taylor and I have lots of travel booked, starting off with a wedding in Roatan in a few weeks!I want to thank all of my friends, family, and clients for the ongoing support, this year has been life changing to say the least… and I hope every year I look back on I can say the same.
Much Love,
Lindsay
